Engage your employees in meaningful community service that builds skills, fosters team cohesion, and demonstrates your organization’s commitment to social impact. Below are a variety of volunteer roles designed to appeal to corporate groups of all sizes.

Opportunities to Volunteer:

1. Youth Mentoring & Tutoring

What Volunteers Do:

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring in literacy, math, or digital skills

  • Serve as a career and college-readiness mentor, sharing expertise in fields like social services, business, or the arts

Time Commitment:

  • Weekly 1–2 hour sessions for 8–12 weeks

  • Can be scheduled during lunch hours, after work, or on weekends

Employee Benefits:

  • Strengthens coaching and communication skills

 2. Youth Workshop Facilitator

  • Description: Co-lead an interactive session (e.g., career exploration, financial literacy, photography basics) for middle or high school students.

  • Time Commitment: One 2-hour session per month (3–5 volunteers)

  • Skills Needed: Public speaking, basic lesson planning, subject-matter expertise

  • Corporate Benefit: Practice presentation and leadership skills in a supportive environment; team members co-facilitate and debrief as a group.

3. Skills-Based Pro Bono Projects

  • Description: Partner with your department (e.g., Marketing, IT, HR) to complete a short-term project, such as designing social media graphics, revamping our intranet, or updating volunteer orientation materials.

  • Time Commitment: 10–20 hours over 2–4 weeks (3–6 volunteers)

  • Skills Needed: Professional expertise in marketing, web design, human resources, or communications

  • Corporate Benefit: Leverage employees’ specialized skills; foster cross-functional teamwork outside the office.

4. Career Coaching & Panel Discussions

  • Description: Host a 90-minute career panel or one-on-one mock interview sessions for college interns and young adults in our “Becoming Me” and “Choose to Be U” programs.

  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes quarterly (4–8 volunteers)

  • Skills Needed: Interviewing experience, resume review, industry knowledge

  • Corporate Benefit: Enhance your talent pipeline by connecting with emerging professionals; employees hone mentoring and coaching abilities.

4. Event Support & Planning

What Volunteers Do:

  • Assist with logistics for fundraisers, community fairs, and enrollment events

  • Manage registration desks, usher guests, set up décor, and coordinate vendors

Time Commitment:

  • Single events (4–8 hour shifts) or event committee roles (planning meetings + event day)
